Well that's what they say anyway....who ever "they" are, right??? So we will just go with it for this post.

My time on the Pink by Design design team has come to an end. (sniff, sniff) Sarah and the rest of the girls on the team were great to work with.

Here is my card:

On my card I used the "happy love day" from Pink by designs Love always set. I love this set!! Can't wait to use it more once Valentines day gets closer.

Paper is by Stampin' Up, ribbon is Bazzill, the monekys are part of the Changito the Monkey line from Stampendous stamps.

I know it is a super busy time of the year for everyone, so I will keep this short and sweet.

Background paper was made by lovable old me...lol! No but seriously, it is just SU! kraft cardstock, stamped with a cheapie damask stamp from HL using Tim Holtz distressing ink in walnut (stamped off 3x) then sprayed with iridescent gold by tattered angels. I don't *love* gold...but it just seemed to go with this card.

$1 stamp from Micheal's....this just goes to show you don't have to buy all those expensive stamps to make nice cards. ;)

Whoo hoo I am a Peachy Keen Guest Designer!!

I absolutely adore their stamps for several reasons...the images are ADORABLE, the quality of the stamp is the best, and I happen to be lucky enough to live only 20 miles from Peachy Keen headquarters so I have had the honor of meeting most of the Peachy Keen family...and they are the SWEETEST people you will ever meet.

The challenge this time was to make an encouraging card. That's not too hard with all their adorable, cheery smiley stamps. Here is my card, I hope you like it!!!

Here is my card. I used 2 of the patterns from the Imagine more cart to make the tree. Used my SU! scallop edge punch, and then glued all the layers together as shown below.

The put it in the trimmer and cut a triangle...and tah dah....I had a Christmas tree :)

The punch at the bottom is the MS Vintage doily edge punch (love it!), sentiment is Unity, the birdie is a button I had laying around, misc snowflake stamps and SU! whisper white ink.

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I have a 12x12 layout using Pink by Design Bountiful Blessings sentiment set.

(sorry about the lop sided string....my tape let loose on me when I took the pic.)

The fun circles on the side are a cut from designer calendar cartridge, the tree trunk was cut by hand and the tree is done with SU! scallop punch and a small cuttlebug scallop circle die. Patterned paper is Apple Cider by Imaginsce. Title is done with thickers.

As you may have read Mandy is super busy with her new job, and asked myself and a few of her other scrappy friends to take over her blog until she can get back to being crafty.

Today is Pink by design - design team submission day. Yippee! Part of the challenge was to use this fabulous paper Sarah had 3m sent to everyone on the design team call Post-it Craft. The entire back side of this paper is similar to what is on the 'sticky' part a post it note. I am loving using this in the Cricut!!! It cuts perfectly.

This is going to be post that is heavy on pictures...and light on words. I don't have the same 'way with words' that Mandy does.

Here you can see the back side of 3m's new Post-it Craft paper:

I am a huge fan of Cricut Design Studio. I get all my cuts arranged on the screen, lay my papers down to match, and one run through the cricut...and I am done. (the orange colored paper is the front side of the post-it paper)

I cut this shape from Storybook cartridge at 4 inches.

Peeled up the paper off the adhesive backing..

I decided to use this cut as a mask. You can see in the picture below I put the mask on top of the red cardstock and sprayed it with black Maya Mist from Maya Road. Once it was dry I peeled up the mask leaving the beautiful design you will see on the card below.

Here is the finished card. It is a 'tall' card measuring 9"x4", and will fit in a letter size envelope. I used the stamp "Well behaved women rarely make history" stamp from the Pink by design Shop-a-holic set. Such a fun girlie set!!!

As some of you know I recently started a new full time job, that is consuming 99% of what use to be my 'creative time'.

I feel I have an obligation to share fabulous projects with all of my loyal followers, and I don't want to leave you with a dried up blog that never gets updated. Lucky for me (and you) I have SUPER crafty and talented friends that will be taking over the Polka Dot Spot for me, until things settle down after the holidays. While I will miss you all over the next few months, I don't think you will disappointed in the fabulous projects you see here, and having a little variety might be a nice change.

I will let the girls take over from here and introduce themselves as they post their projects over the next few months....

I consider myself honored to call Melanie & Joy from Everyday Cricut friends of mine, and I have been fortunate to be asked back as a guest designer on Everyday Cricut. If you haven't stopped at their blog yet, make sure you do because they are giving away the new "Country Living" cartridge this week.

I am going to make good use of my time as a guest designer, and do as many scrapbook pages as I can. Because if you are anything like me, you are sooooooooooo far behind on your scrapbooks.

Here is my first layout:

All of the paper in this layout is from the DCWV 'Guy' stack.
I recently received a pack of the 3m's new craft post it paper...this stuff is amazing in the cricut. It cuts like butter, and the entire back side is repositionable adhesive. So it's perfect to use it for a mask like I did in this layout. I cut a heart from the simply sweet cartridge, and then peeled of the backing....attached it to the cardstock...spritzed the cardstock with 'leather' glimmer mist from Tattered Angels. Then peeled the heart off, and had a perfectly masked heart shaped.

Title was cut using Simply Sweet cartridge @ 1.5"

The pointy finger is from Graphically Speaking cartridge.

Ok, now onto the layout I created using the Pink by Design {Rock On} stamp set. If you haven't tried these photopolymer stamps yet....take it from me a 'red rubber' snob....they are amazing!

If you are anything like me when I see a sentiment stamp...I think card. Sarah did such a great job on choosing sayings for her stamps...that I had a hard time choosing...there were so many options.

Enough chattering and enabling from me, here is my layout....


Products used: Pink by Design Rock on Stamp set, Bazzill cardstock, Rock Princess Cricut cartridge, Glimmer Mist (pearl), black glittler paper (target), bling, Crystal effects, Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

See the yummy glimmer mist. Gotta love some sparkle!! These little embellishments were made by stamping 3 images from the Rock on set and coating them with crystal effects. The circle punch is from Stampin' Up.

One of the many fantabulous sentiments in the Rock On stamp set. Because the stamps are photopolymer I was able to curve them on my block before stamping....giving the sentiment a wavy look. Then I added a music note at the end. Attached it to the Layout with the tiny attcher and dimensionals (from SU!...by far the best dimensionals on the market!)

Here is a close up of the title. I cut the crown and bow from the black glitter paper and blinged it up a little :) The zebra paper in the background from (Hobby Lobby) was crinkled and inked up with SU! lavendar lace ink.

Back from CHA....

Hey everyone, didja miss me...huh did ya!?!? LOL!

We have officially moved into our new home, my scraproom is not finished but I have it set up so it's functionable---which is good enough for me. ;)

Last week I had the pleasure of going to CHA (craft & hobbie association trade show) I got a sneak peek of all the new products coming out for scrapbooking and card making. Now I had a lot of favorites, but there is one little fun tool that really stuck out to me. I thought I would share it with you all...

It's called Sew Easy, it's made by We R Memory Keepers....and I am in love. Not run off to Vegas love, but you know what I mean, right???

The initial tool will retail for $7.95 and the interchangeable thingies (yes, that is a technical term) will only be $2.50. Sweet deal right!?!? I though so. So you want to see pictures, right. Of course you do.

But before I show you pictures, I just want to say I played with this cool little tool at CHA for awhile. I know it says pierces on the packaging...but the wheels are plastic and they "dent" the paper but they do not pierce it. They are more of just little guides.

Are those stitches super cute, or what? I know some of you are super D duper sewers and would have no need for something like this....but I am not that girl and this is just what I need.

I promise to start posting projects again very soon. Pinky promise ;)

I was so busy with Stampin' Up during Sale-a-bration that I didn't have time to get much crafting done, and on top of not having time...I lost my mojo for awhile. But it's back....whooohooo!!

We recently returned from a family cruise, and I have a few layouts that I created to share with you. Now these are not going to wow your socks off...but with over 300 pictures to scrapbook I have to keep the layouts quick and simple. Otherwise I will never finish scrapbooking this trip!!!

This first layout is when we were getting ready to set sail from New Orleans. It had been a looong day, and we were all ready to get the show on the road....so to speak ;)

The patterned paper came in a kit that I bought, the title was cut on the cricut using Cuttin' Up cart and the anchor is from Life's a Beach. Cardstock is from the Whitewash collection from Coredinations.

See now I warned you, some of these layouts would be kind of blah and simple....

But really their wasn't anything to exciting about tendering into Belize. And to be very honest....there wasn't anything to exciting in Belize either. Certainly not a country I will visit ever again...once was plenty!!!

Patterned paper was from a kit, cardstock is all Stampin' Up and embossed with CB folders and then inked with the Stampin' Up white ink pad (best white ink pad on the market...I promise!!!)

Last layout for today, and one of my favorites of this bunch.

When we got to Belize City, we quickly learned that there were no public beaches...and not many beaches period, because they have a sea wall up. So we took a tour and on the tour they took us to a man-made beach and restaurant called "Old Belize" We didn't end up going swimming, but instead enjoyed a yummy lunch and a few "red-ritas"....so good!!!

Patterned paper is by K & Company, cardstock is all Stampin' Up...so is the ribbon.

The title was cut on the Cricut using Opposites attract, and the flowers are from Life's a Beach.

Time for a crafty gift....

Sadly today is my last day as guest designer on Christmas with the Cricut. Not too mention seeing what those incredibly talented girls have posted for their crafty gift. Also please check out Monique's blog...she is sooooo creative I am sure you will LOVE what she has created for today. It has been such a fun week. I hope everyone enjoyed the projects I created.

Today's crafty gift is a 12x12 shadow box frame that I etched and layered with vinyl.

(this is a picture of me, my sister and my mom)

This is so hard to photograph. Here in this corner is where I etched in 3 snowflakes from Winter Woodland cartridge and 2 scallops swirls that I flipped, rotated and welded together to create a corner. I also placed rhinestones in the center of all 3 snowflakes.

For the word "family" I used the front from Winter Woodland. I cut out the word family using the shadow feature @ 3" with vinyl and used etching cream to permanently etch the glass. Next I cut out family in black vinyl @ 3" and layered on top of what I had etched.

(Once the etching cream was removed and washed, of course)

The paper used inside the frame is from the My Mind's Eye paper stack that I purchased at Michael's. Ribbon is made by Bazzill and purchased from Archiver's.

It just so happens I have 2 layouts to share with you today. Here is the first Layout:

Paper: American Crafts Merry Mint Collection

Cardstock: Stampin' Up and Coredinations

Page is 12x12 with 4 squares cut to 5.5"x5.5" and sewn together

Photo mats are 4.25"x4.25" and 4.25x6.25

Little boy, wagon and bows are all cuts from Everyday Paperdolls

The santa hat is from paper dolls dress up.

The dog is from Everyday paper dolls he is cut at 4". I also cut out a reindeer from paper doll dress up and cut off his antlers and attached them to the dog. The nose is a little red button with red stickles on it.

I also applied flock to the dog by running him through my xyron machine and then sprinkled on the light brown flock, to give him a fuzzy feel and appearance.

Here is an up close of the zig sag sewing that holds the 4 blocks of cardstock together

The second layout is a much simpler layout:

Patterned paper: Stampin' Up Christmas Cocoa

Cardstock : SU! real red, old olive and soft suede

Snowflakes are cut from the Winter Woodland cartridge @ 2.5"

I applied a coat of the White SU! Shimmer paint then added flat back pearls and rhinestones

Holly Leave is also from the Winter Woodland cartridge and is cut @ 2", embossed with the cuttlebug swiss dots folder and distressed with Tim Holtz walnut stain distressing ink.

This reindeer is also from the Winter Woodland cartridge and is cut @ 5" on SU! kraft cardstock and covered with a coat of SU! champagne shimmer paint (LOVE this stuff!!) It is also inked around all the edges of the cardstock, even though it's hard to see on the page on the left. There are also snowflakes stamped with real red ink on the background paper. You just can not see it in the photos. :(

Ribbon is from SU! (it is retired, but you can still order it from the clearance rack online through my website) it's called Alpine ribbon, you can see it here

As you all know I am guest designer on Christmas with the Cricut blog this week, along with the ultra talented Monique (see her fabulous creations here).

Today is the day that the girls on CWTC post a gift packaging project for us all to drool over and make us want a million crafty things we never knew we wanted. Right!?!?! Let's get to the goodies....

Now for the details.....

Here is what the box looked like before I started. I bought at Hobby Lobby.

I used Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip craft ink to stain the wood, and Tim Holtz distressing ink in walnut to bring out the wood grain.

Next I traced the lid on to the back side of my paper (SEI Christmas Mint collection)

cut it out and glued it down with a coat of Mod Podge.

Then I used my Basic Grey file to file away the excess paper around the edges of the lid.

Next I measured the sides of the box and cut pieces to fit, and attached all four sides with a coat of Mod Podge. (I also removed all the hardware before attaching paper) I also applied a coat of mod podge to the top of all the paper. This will protect the paper for years to come. While that dried I created the poinsettia for the top of the box :)

I cut out 11 poinsettias from the Winter Woodland cricut cartridge. They started at 1" and each one increased in size by 1/2". The largest poinsettia is 6" (the leaves are from the 6" poinsettia)

I used these embossing folders to emboss the flowers (oops I forgot one) . Then used Tim Holtz distressing ink in walnut to bring out the texture in each of the flowers. (Can you tell I love this ink pad??)

Starting with the largest flower I began layering the flowers using Stampin' Up dimensionals (the best dimensionals in the WORLD!!) and just kept layering.

I covered 3 small buttons with versamark ink and sprinkled with gold tinsel embossing powder. Then added a dusting of champagne shimmer paint from SU! to the buttons and the edges of the flowers.

Lastly I tied red stitched ribbon from Bazzill around the lid of the box for a finishing touch.

Tomorrow is scrapbook page layout day...and I have TWO 2 page layouts to share with you!!!

Day 2 Home decor...

Today is my 2nd day as guest designer on Christmas with the Cricut. Whoo hoo! Be sure to pop in and see what the CWTC girls have posted to inspire us with today, and stop in by Monique and see what fabulous magic she has created today. I am among such talented company!

This has to be one of my FAVORITE projects of all time. Yes it took awhile...but I feel it was soooo worth it in the end. The picture do not do it any justice.

So what does 242 snowflakes get you???

besides a warm cricut blade....

A beautiful tree for your table or mantle...

You will need:

1 styrofoam cone (mine is 9''x3-7/8'')

I used 7 sheets of patterned paper.

1 to sheet to cover the cone

3 darker sheets for the first layer snowflake cut at 2.5"

3 lighter sheets cut at 2"

I cut all 6 sheets of 12x12 paper using the auto fill feature.

The snowflake I used is from the Winter Woodland

I used 2" corsage pearl ended pins (floral dept $3.99 for 100)

Start at the bottom and work your way all the way up to the top.

Tie a ribbon at the top and attach with a pin and that's it!

Here is another version of the tree that I made using the single Holly leaf cut at 2"

This time I had to glue each leaf on which took a little longer.

I also embossed and ink each leaf for a little extra dimension.

Then added red buttons with a hot glue gun.

Delightful decorations card

Happy Friday...and TGIF!!! I am sooooo glad the weekend is here. Whew!

Here is a quick card I made using the Stampin' Up Ornament punch {116794} and the coordinating stamp set Delightful Decorations {116517}. Along with the Christmas Cocoa speciality paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Ornament Punch 3-d Ornament

Happy Wednesday to everyone!

This week I am featuring the Stampin' Ornament punch {116794} and the coordinating stamp set Delightful Decorations {116517}

Today I made a few 3-d ornaments. These are quick and easy to make and would be easy enough for kids to make for their Teachers.

Punch out as many ornaments as you would like. The more you use the fuller your ornament will be.

Score the ornaments down the middle.

Next I started to build the ornament, by gluing the folded sides together. Once I got a few together I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist (Pearl) to give the ornament some shimmer.

I even like to spray my ribbon with glimmer mist.

Just be sure to give it time to dry (or use the heat gun to dry)

Before gluing all the parts together put your ribbon or string in the middle.

These were so fun and easy to make, I made one for my 13 year old daughter

I didn't have any pink zebra paper, so I colored 1/2 of my ornaments with my SU! Melon Mambo marker.

Next dilemma... I didn't have a pink bling. So I colored a clear gem with my copic, let it dry. Worked great!

A Halloween Layout

I am running behind on my projects, but have set aside some time tomorrow to get caught up.

Here is my 2 page 12x12 layout using the top note die for a journaling box.

Paper is by Making memories. I used the Designer calendar Cricut cartridge for the title, spider, and October 31st. The punches used on the page is MS spider web and drippy goo edge punches. Striped ribbon is by Stampin' Up.

PS. The snowman card directions are coming. I started typing them up and realized this is a card that would be sooo much easier to show rather try to explain. Now....I just have to figure out where DH put our video camera. We moved in September and still have some boxes to unpack...I'm hoping it's in one of those boxes.

Sorry for being MIA yesterday. The scrapbook page for yesterday will be posted later tonight. In the mean time I will share with you what I was busy working on instead. Last week I was asked by the super talented girls over at CWTC (http://cricutchristmas.blogspot.com/ ) to to fill in for Tammy today on their blog. It was certainly an honor to be asked...but definitely some big (and talented) shoes to fill.

Saturday is their "crafty gift" day, and I created a 12x12 canvas wall hanging.

I added photo corners, so that the picture could be easily changed from year to year.

(My dd school picture was the only 5x7 I had on had at the time..lol!)

Turkey gift bag/box

I'm not really sure if you would consider this a box or a bag...either way it's a fun little project just in time for Thanksgiving.

Here are some of the tools you will need:

Start with cutting 2 pieces of cardstock ( I used SU! kraft cardstock) with your SU! top note die. You could also use the similar shape found on cricut cartridges like accent essentials and storybook. The top note shape when cut is about 3 3/4" x 4 3/4". Ink the edges to give some dimension to your project.

Set this aside, this will be the front and back of your turkey.

Next cut a piece of the same color cardstock to 3"x11"

Score this piece...

Next you will need to snip the corners, so that we can fold this into shape. You will snip from the score lines outward in the four areas where your score line intersect.

When you have snipped all four corners it will look like this...

Next fold on the score lines inward

You can set this piece aside for right now.

Next we will create some feathers for this little guy. You could use just about anything that will give you this shape. I choose to use a flower from the cricut cartridge Accent Essentials. Here is a picture of the flower I used, and I cut it at 5"

I loaded my cricut cutting mat up with the four colors I choose for feathers

Here is what it looked like once the flowers were cut:

Next cut each of the flower petals apart

Emboss and ink the feathers. You really only need 2-3 of each color. I had extra left over.

Cut 2 scallops that are about 3 1/4" (I used a nestie) and start attaching the feather to one of the scallops. The other scallop will get attached to the back to hide all the glued feathers

Let's give our turkey a face :)

Punch 2 circles in white with the 1 1/4" punch (whites of the eye)

Punch 2 circles in black with the 1" punch (pupil)

Punch 1 circle with the 1 3/8th punch and cut in half (eyelids)

The beak is tricky, and you will have to play with this until you get one you like. What I did was take a small piece of cardstock fold it in half. Flip my oval punch upside down (so the metal is facing me) stick the folded cardstock in part way and punch.

The little red hangie thingy is just an extra red feather hand cut to look like a one of those thingies. (Sorry I don't know the technically term...so hangie thingy will have to do)

If you would like to add "hands" I use the SU! scallop circle, cut it so I had 3 little scallop and folded it around the side of the body of my turkey.

For my sign I used a toothpick colored with a copic marker, and added a happy thanksgiving sentiment from a retired SU! stamp set.

Once you have a face on your turkey you can assemble all of your pieces:

I hope I have included enough pictures to make this tutorial fun and easy. Next time I think I will do a video, it probably would have been much easier to follow :)

Top note snowman card {Week 2}

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the delay in posting today. It's been one of those "bad technology" days. First my laptop would not read my SD card (where the pictures for today's project were). I had to download and install a new driver (not easy for someone that knows very little about computers, but I did it!) Next, something was messed up with my wireless router and I couldn't connect to the internet. Luckily, I was able to figure that out. Also, let me apologize for the poor pictures, I'm not sure what is up with my camera lately...but hopefully Santa will bring me a new one (wink, wink) I will try to retake the pictures tomorrow, and see if I have better luck.

This week I am going to showcase the Stampin' Up Top Note die.

This die can be used in just about any of the die cut machines on the market today (Big shot, Cuttlebug, Big kick, etc)

I have seen many cards similar to this posted on the internet, and I thought I would give it a try. (direction will be added shortly)

Serene Snowflake Snow Day

Today is the last day of the Serene Snowflakes showcase. I hope you all have enjoyed seeing a few of the different ways you can use Serene Snowflakes.

Here is today's 12"x12" scrapbook page, which was partly inspired by my dear friend Melanie. I love how she adds stitching and buttons, so I thought I would give it a try. Here you can better see the snowflakes stamped in the background with white craft ink. In person they are much more noticeable. I also like to sponge white craft ink along the edges to give the page a frosty look. Brrr!

Serene Snowflake Ornament

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying this weeks featured stamp set Serene Snowflakes.

Today's project is a little bit more detailed and time consuming, but I think you will agree it is worth it.

Supplies used in today project:

Stamps: Serene Snowflakes: {115438}

Inks: Night of Navy {102977} Versamark ink{102283}

Cardstock: Non SU! thick white cardstock (120lb weight)

Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals {104430} Clear embossing powder {109130} Dazzling Diamonds glitter{102023} embossing gun {100005} Rhinestone brads clear {113144} silver stretchy cord {109866} Night of navy organdy ribbon (retired)

I began by stamping one of each of the snowflakes on heavy weight cardstock in night of navy ink. Once all the snowflakes were stamped, I cut each one out. (no lie....this was time consuming) Next I inked up all of the snowflakes with versamark ink and sprinkled on the clear embossing powder. While the embossing powder was melted, I dipped the snowflake in the embossing powder a 2nd time...and then again once more....and then the fourth time I sprinkle on the dazzling diamonds glitter (heat from the under side of the paper) . Each time melting the embossing powder until it was completely melted.

Once all the snowflakes were cooled, I attached my rhinestone brad. Next attaching the layers of the snowflake with dimensionals.

I used my piercing tool to poke a hole in the top of the largest snowflake, and threaded my silver stretchy cord through. Then tied the ribbon.

I tried to take the best pictures I could, but honestly it's much prettier in person.

I bought Cold & Cuddly from the Stampin' Up Holiday mini catalog as soon as I could...I just thought this was the cutest set ever. My stamp set arrived, right as I was packing up my scraproom and getting ready to move to our new house. Talk about torture. Since that time I have had the idea to use this super cute set with a retired SU! set called Polar Friends, that I have kept (aka hoarded) since it retired a few years back. Now I finally feel justified for keeping those 100's of stamp sets. LOL! Anyway....here is my card I hope you like it!

The fur on the little girls jacket is done with liquid applique and SU! chunky glitter.

Apply liquid applique, and allow it to set for a few minutes.
Sprinkle on chunky glitter
Next heat each area from the under side until the applique has puffed up.

Also works great for creating snow! OMG...I can't believe I am already talking about snow.

Another B-day card

What's with all the birthday cards lately?? I don't know if your family is like mine, but I always get the...

"Mom, remember I need a birthday card before I leave"

I say "When are you leaving"

they say "In 20 minutes"

Ok, it's not that I don't have a million pre-made cards laying around, but of course none of those are what they "need" Like for this card...it needed to have an owl, and be pink, black and white. Apparently I was fresh out of those cards (wink, wink) So in all of about 10 minutes I whipped this little number up.

Please ignore the ribbon..apparently I have a ribbon thief in my home. It sneaks in my room and steals my wide black and white polka dot ribbon...then uses it for her HAIR and to tie up the sleeves of her shirt. Yes, I love that my dear daughter is creative, but could she just not be sooooo creative with all of my ribbon. LOL!

Now for a card...

This is a quick card I made for our neighbor's 9th birthday.

The frosting on the cupcake is white liquid applique that I tinted with pixie pink reinker. Then while I was heating up the applique I added a few beads as sprinkles.

With the marker club you can purchase the entire set of markers over a four-month period and get free Stampin’ Up! Merchandise at the same time.

Hi everyone! Sorry about my MIA-ness...life got in the way of my stamping.

I recently got a big order of SU! goodies, and managed to squeeze in a little stamping time.

Here is one of the cards I made:

A few cards using the Martha Stewart branch punch...

The Martha Stewart branch punch is probably one of the most versatile punches I have ever owned. I purchased mine last year from Wal Mart for about $9.00. I have also heard of Michael's and some lss carrying the punch if you are looking for one.

The reindeers:
On this card I used the branch punch as antlers for my reindeer, and used the SU! large oval for their heads. The paper is SU! and Imginisce's Snowy Jo paper.

The snowy pine:
For this card I used the branch punch as branches...lol! :) The trunk of the tree was hand cut by me from Close to cocoa SU! card stock, crumpled up for texture and ink with close to cocoa for depth. The snow on the tree is liquid applique sprinkled with SU! dazzling diamonds right before heating with the embossing gun.

Joy ornament:
Again I used the branch punch for a branch :) This time I hung a glittery ornament from the branch. For the ornament I used the SU! 1 3/8" circle punch and glitter paper from Target. Then tied gold string for the bow and string.

The Snowflake:
This time I spaced the branch punch out a little bit in a circle shape...creating this snowflake. To cover up the spacing in the middle I used the Martha Stewart 1" scallop circle punch and some stamps from Art Warehouse that I bought at Hobby Lobby. On the corners I used the SU! ticket corner punch and added a little bling. The base of the card was embossed using my swiss dots cuttlebug folder, and then inked with SU! white ink pad.

Owl holiday card...

Bailee just loves owls! I knew when I saw this set by Hero Arts at Archiver's...we had to have them. They are just too darn cute!

I embossed the owls, cut them out, colored them with prismacolor pencils, and attached them with dimensionals. I used SU! watercolor paper for the background. I inked up my brayer with baja breeze and covered the entire piece. Next I inked just the edge of the brayer with pacific point and went over the top and bottom for depth. I took a damp sponge and blended the colors together. Lastly, I stamped little snowflakes in white craft ink.

It seems like months since I've held a club meeting, this past Sunday was looong overdue! Anyway, I just wanted to share with you the 3 cards we made. We also did a 12x12 LO for the 4th of July...but I will post that one in a few days. Okey dokey---

Now this is not an excuse, but I want to explain why what you are about to see are not all Mandy originals. Last week I was not feeling good, I spent Wed. at the hospital go through tests and ultrasounds (**NO** I am not preggo!!!!) I then spent Thursday & Friday on meds...so my only day to plan & execute was Saturday. Things are going ok now, and it's just one day at a time for the moment until we know more.

Ok let's get on with the cards!

Card numero uno....Frankenstein and Franniestein.....

I only made a few minor changes to Frank and Frannie by inking all the edges for depth and not using the arrows for bolts. And of course adding the bow to turn Frank into Frannie.

This a simple card. I just wanted to do a card that showcased the new Stampin' Up In Colors for 08-09....and the new scallop edge punch.

Well, those days are coming back. The kids are going back to school in a week, and with my recent health issues I will be spending a lot more time at home resting, relaxing and crafting. Doctors orders :) (ok maybe not the crafting part)

Ellie turns 7 months old...

As I promised here are some new pictures of Ellie. She is getting so big...well, maybe not...she weighs just a little over 5 lbs. I think it's her personality that is getting bigger...she is pretty sure that she is the princess of the house. Silly puppy!

Bailee went as Dorothy for Halloween, and of course Ellie was Toto. (but she was also a ladybug :))

And in case you are wondering...yes,she does wear clothes everyday. Sometimes I think she has more clothes than me!! Wait til it snows here, then I'll post a picture with her winter boots on...now that is funny :)

Time to get back on track with posting.

The puppy is getting older, (I'll post new pictures of her in the next few days), the kids are settled into their school routine, and I think I am caught up on all my mommy & household things that I let go during the summer months. All caught up...just in time for the holidays! Being that I am all caught up...I have actually had some time to stamp. Yay!!

I guess I forgot how much work puppies can be. It's like having a baby crawling around constantly getting into things, always hungry...and going potty every 30 minutes!!!

Here is our new little bundle of joy...

Her name is Ella (but we call her Ellie) she is a 12 week old Yorkie.

Yes that is a dress she has on ;) She has about 15 different outfits...she is one fashionable pup!!

Could she *be* any cuter!?!?!

That is her big sister Morgan...they are best friends!!

I promise to get my butt downstairs and get some stamping done! With the kids home for the summer and the puppy---stamping has gone to the wayside :(

Well, let's not go that far . My idea of camping is the 2nd floor of the hilton...but some how I got talked into going *real* camping! We had fun...and we got to spend some quality time with Jamie's parents. Here are a few pictures from our trip---

On Monday I received my Pick a Petal set from SU! (it'll will be in the new fall/winter SU! catty). I am in LOOOOVE with this set! I just wish I had more time to play with it.

There I was laying in bed Tuesday (stalling...because 6:30 comes too early) and the idea for this first card popped into my head....finally I had a reason to get. (Stampin' is one of my favorite reasons actually ;)) I really like how it all came together! (Although it drives me crazy that one of the dots fell off before I took the picture...and that black empty spot above the ribbon bugs me!!!...but I am too lazy to retake the pics, so pretend there is a dot there...K?)

A few details about the card:

1/4" circle punch used to punch the polka dots out of WW, and then adhered to the black.

Corner rounder used to make the scalloped edge

Bubble cuttlebug folder used for the center of the flower.

Certainly not my favorite *but* I am in charge of making the invites for our family 4th of July pool party...this is one of contenders.

Playing catch up....

I just can't seem to get caught up lately!!! Well, Stamp Fest 2007 has come and gone...it was a total blast!! The cards that everyone made were fabulous! I made so many new stamping friends, and I got to meet friends that I have been chatting with for over a year on SCS (Hi Deb and Sarah!!) I can't wait til next year!!

I won't go into the details but I recently went through a really rough time. Things are getting better each day, but it really made me take a good hard look at my life and make some decisions about what was important and what I wanted out of my life. The first thing I decided is that it's time for me to stop putting off going to school to be a nurse. It's something I've always wanted, but with 3 kids there were always a million excuses why I shouldn't. Secondly, I decided that being overweight just simply isn't who I am...so I joined Weight Watchers two weeks ago. I had been watching what I ate before then, and as of today I am down 12 pounds. YAY!

Ok, enough about me. Let's get to some stampin'!!!

Since I have stamped or posted here. :( Life has been super hectic!

On the 28th I am hosting the 2nd annual NE WI Stamp Fest. I am REALLY excited, I can't wait to meet everyone! There are 51 stampers registered...we are going to have a BLAST!! Until the 28th, you probably won't see too many updates here. I really need to buckle down and get things organized. However....in May I plan to have some awesome blog candy and a few other fun things happening.

I never thought I would stamp a card using Orchid Opulence that I would actually like. Well, I did it. I have *never* liked this color. I own all of the Stampin' Up ink pads...but I refuse to buy that one. Today, it just seemed to work with this card.

I really don't have much to blab about today...lucky you! However, I did get some stamping done today! Whoo hoo!! :)

This first card was part of the "Featured Stamper" challenge on SCS. We had to pick a card out of Scrapstampdiva's gallery to CASE...except change a few elements on our card. Picking a card from her gallery was tough...cuz they are all fabulous! This one really caught my eye:

I changed the color combo, and the stamp set...but I kept the elements and layout the same.
The dots on the flower were done with a white galaxy marker. The flower center is a white button with a 1/4" cool caribbean circle in the middle, then covered with stickles.

The second card is just a super simple Bella card. The DP is from Target (my Target recently expanded their scrapbook section and they now carry lots of super cool things!!!) I added the doodles to the DP with the Stampin' Up Just Doodles set. Bella is colored with prismacolor pencils.

I recently placed an order, and being the dork that I am, I ordered the wrong size shopping bellas. I e-mailed her and she fixed my order...and upgraded me to the big Bellas, and didn't charge me the extra $$$!!!!! I was blown away!! I was just so happy that she was willing to make the change for me, but to do it and not charge me. Well, that is just going above and beyond if you ask me!

I've got issues!

I may have many addictions...(stamps, ribbon, embellishments, ribbon, Target and did I say ribbon!?!?) but I have realized that when it comes to stamps...I *CAN'T* pass up a cute critters! What's my deal!?!? I know there are lots of great stamps out in the world, but my eyes always gravitate to the cute critters :)

Yesterday I needed some retail therapy. I jumped in the van and took myself to the nearest stamp store...and that is where I found the cutest bunny stamp!!! It is made by Great impressions, and is part of their "stamp of the month" series.

Here is the card I created at 1 am this morning...(don't ask!)using the sketch from the SCS challenge. I used the swirls cuttlebug embossing folder, and my prismacolor pencils to color with. The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up Bunny Hugs set, (it's in the Spring mini catalog)

who else has issues with procastinating??? Or is it just me??? I swear this has got to be my worse personality trait!! I drive myself crazy.

So, today I tell myself...Self, you have stamp club on Sunday, you should really design the projects today, so Saturday won't be a mad rush. I go down to my stamp room...and hour later...guess what I come out with---I Bella birthday card!!!! I can't use that for my Stampin' Up stamp club.

Now, in my defense I stamped this card for a friend who has a birthday coming up very soon, and I didn't want her card to be late...that's a good excuse, right!?!?! LOL--I know, I know, nice try!!!

Seeing how I got the card done, I guess I should share it, huh!?!? Then hopefully tomorrow I will have club projects to share...oh who am I kidding...I'll post them saturday night!!

Well, here is the card I stamped. The color combo is from SCS #105, I really love this combo. Really Rust, Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and So Saffron. After playing around a little bit last night, I was able to figure out how to make my own banner. It's my first one...whatcha think???

So.....I got brave.

I figured if I can make a banner, I should be able to make one of those super cute digital scrapbook pages, right!?!?! Sure enough...amazingly it was pretty easy. (I feel a new addiction coming on) Now I want to share my page here, but I am so worried that I won't give the correct credit. I will try my best, but please if I leave something out--let me know!!

The page kit I used for both my page and my banner is a freebie from www.shabbyprincess.com and the sketch is from www.pencillines.com. Whew! I hope that covers the details.

A lil' weekend stampin'

I rarely have a chance to stamp on the weekends, but today my friend Ann came over to stamp and chit chat. It was a blast...like always!!! I even managed to get *a* card done....Typically I chat way more than I stamp ;)

I really need to get more of these cuttlebug emossing folders...cuz I am in love! This is just a quick card I did using my Missy B designs stamps. Her stamps can be found here: www.missybdesigns.com They are really an awesome quality stamp!

On a recent trip to Joanns, I noticed that they had some of these adorable Cuttlebug embossing folders! I love the look of dry embossing, but sometimes dread it because it can be so time consuming...not with these buggers!!! It took less than 30 seconds to dry emboss the background. I have yet to convince myself that I *need* to buy the Cuttlebug machine itself, because I have a sizzix that collects dust. And these embossing folders work great with the sizzix.

Now for a few card details...After embossing the background I sponged it with copper encore ink, this helped to define the design and make it a little more fancy. The colors I used on this card were from this weeks SCS color challenge, the colors are Sage Shadow, Cranberry Crisp, and More mustard.

I just love snowflakes...Can you tell!?!? I did this card as part of the SCS #100 sketch challenge. Everything is Stampin' Up, except for the green gingham ribbon and the tag. Snowman Crazy!!!!

I think I have lost my mind! (ha,ha...like that is a shocker to anyone else)

Why does it feel like everything I stamp either involves a snowman or a snowflake!?!? So if you don't love snowmen...these next couple of posts might get a little boring!

I have not had much time to stamp lately, but hopefully after the holidays that will all change. Wishful thinking, right?

This card was done using the new Stampin' Up 'in color' combination chart. If you don't have this wonderful resource, e-mail me and I can send it to you :)

A fun card playing with my new lumiere paint and embossing plates. So fun!! The snowman is painted with lumiere, and he is super sparkly IRL.

I like snowmen....can you tell???

A scrapbook page & a new technique...all in one!

This is the page that my stamp club will be doing this month. This was my first time trying the "Milk Paint" technique. I was really impressed with the results. Here is a link to the instructions for this technique. (it is hard to tell from this picture, but it really does look like distressed wood IRL)

This page is a little plain without the pictures, but I plan on taking some great fall pictures this weekend of the kids. Providing it stops raining!!! :)

I must be in the mood for sparkles lately. It seems that all my cards are either getting a coat of pearl ex & hairspray or getting showered in glitter.

On this card the background is sprayed with a mixture of hairsray & pearl ex. The snowmen are completely covered in irridescent ice, and then embossed. It is much more sparkly in real life.

The background on this card is called 'faux mother of pearl'. It's a super east technique that gives a lot of *wow* to your project.

Fall is here!

Fall has always been my favorite time of year! The colors are gorgeous, the air is so crisp & fresh and I love decorating for fall!!

Plus it's time to break out the fall and holiday stamps!!! Whoo hoo!!

This week I got some of the Stampin' Up watercolor paper...I will never go back! It is awesome! This paper makes the colors so vibrant and makes blending a breeze!

Here is the first card I made with the watercolor paper. I used the watercolor crayons and aqua painters for coloring.

It's DONE!!!!!....well almost.

We still have a lot of the little finishing touches to do, but for the most part my stamp room is ready to be played in!

In the future we plan on adding overhead cabinets above my work space...but that is a project for another time.

Beside mounting the countertops to the wall, staining a few of the cabinets, staining the veneer that goes on the sides of the cabinets...we are done!

I do have a few decorative projects planned for this winter. The first one is to get lots of pictures of family, friends and pets enlarged and then changed to B&W to decorate the walls with. I also plan on doing one of those giant stamped wall clocks (like the one in the SU! catty).

Now for the fun part....pictures!!!

A busy weekend

We are trying to finish up with most of the work in my stamp room this weekend. Then during the week I can lay the flooring and start moving my stuff back in yippee!!! As for today we still have another coat of primer to apply, and hopefully by tomorrow I can get some color on those walls!!!

Unfortunately we didn't have as much time as we would have liked to work on my stamp room...but some is better than none...I guess.

I have a closet!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Today we are in the final stages of sanding and I hope to be priming the walls tomorrow. I did prime one wall last night, just so that I could get a feel for how well it covered the joint compound.

I can't wait to paint!!!! Now the only question is what color do I paint this room???? There is a part of me that really wants Stampin' Up's So Saffron but yet I still want a burnt orange...only time will tell!!

That is a good question! This is suppose to be a blog about stamping and scrapbooking...and yet I have nothing posted on this matter! How rude!!

Well the problem is that my stamp room is undergoing some *MAJOR* renovations, and all my stamps are packed away in boxes. I miss them :(

So I was thinking...seeing how I don't have any pictures of cards or scrapbook pages that I have done recently. I figured I will post pictures of the new stamp room as we work on it. I know...not as much as stamping projects...but it's all I got for right now!!

These 2 pictures are showing what we started with.

Here is a picture I took this morning. As you can see we finally got the stairs flipped around so that they lead into the 'soon to be' family room...and I get a new closet! Fun!!

Tonight we are planning to do some drywalling on the closet. All I know is that we better get cracking, because I have stamp club in this room in 20 days!!!!
